A Message from Adhika and Combat Science – Warrior Arts of Asia
Recent events affecting the Lapu-Lapu Festival community in Vancouver have deeply resonated across Filipino-Canadian communities nationwide. In the face of this challenge, we—Adhika and Combat Science: Warrior Arts of Asia—stand in solidarity with FilCanPreneur and our partner organizations: Philippine Legacy and Cultural Alliance (PLACA), Fun Philippines Toronto Food & Music Festival, Feed Scarborough, and Matrix Cares. Together, we are committed to honoring our culture, uplifting our community, and offering meaningful support.
Filipino culture has always been rooted in Bayanihan—the spirit of coming together to help one another. It’s a value reflected not only in times of joy and celebration, but especially in moments of hardship. What began as grief has now become a powerful expression of unity and care.
To support those directly impacted, we are launching a national fundraiser. Proceeds will help provide emergency aid, trauma support, and essential community services. Since 1985, Adhika has worked to empower Filipino communities in Canada and the Philippines to lead resilient, self-directed lives. Learn more at www.adhika.org.
Once the campaign concludes on May 25, all funds raised will be donated to United Way BC’s Kapwa Strong Fund, a program dedicated to the long-term healing and well-being of Vancouver’s Filipino community. You can learn more at www.uwbc.ca/lapu.
We also invite you to take part in our 3km Walk/Run to Remember on Sunday, May 25 at 8:00 AM at the Toronto Zoo. This event is more than a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of community, culture, and remembrance. Whether you walk, run, or show your support in spirit, your presence will help carry forward the strength and heart of the Filipino community.
To register or begin fundraising, please visit Walk Run to Remember: https://filcanpreneur.com/walk-run-to-remember
Let us share this message and show the enduring strength of our culture and community. In unity, we find healing. In shared action, we carry each other forward.
